“Etude des Besoins en Promotion” Project Launches

The Secretariat of State, Sector of Culture and Artisanat (SECA), in collaboration with the Agence du Partenariat pour le Progres (APP), announce the start-up of a comprehensive study project of the handcraft sector in the regions of Fez and Marrakech, the “Etude des Besoins en Promotion”.

From April 6 to May 18, 2010, a team of 12 surveyors will visit artisans, shops and
artisan organizations in the two regions of Fez and Marrakech for conversations,
discussions and interviews. The purpose of these conversations is to obtain a true
understanding of the needs for promotion for the entire artisan sector, from the point of
view of the actual participants in this business, including individual artisans, small artisan
businesses, retailers, exporters as well as artisan organizations. In order to improve the
links between artisans and the tourism industry, conversations will also take place with
local and international tour operators and hotels. The insights gained will become part of
the important, government initiated “Etude des Besoins en Promotion” and serve as basis
for plans for artisan and tourism promotion for the next two years.
